Denver, Colorado Trip

Welcome Back Bloomers,

I know it has been a while since I posted anything and I do apologize for the long hiatus. Lots of things has happened in life since my departure. That will be saved for another blog post though. As many of you may know one of my best friends lives in Colorado and I try to visit her once or twice a year when possible. Because so much changed in my life in 2019, the last time I saw her was when she visited in 2018. The longest we've been without seeing each other since she moved there.

This time was a little different I brought Marcus, my boyfriend, with me for the first time for him to experience everything I love about Denver. People always ask me for places to visit and where did I go on the trips I take so I had to highlight my favorites from our trip. We had an entire itinerary and crossed off almost everything on the list in the four days we were there. There is always so much to see and so many things to do. Our flights were booked through Skyscanner (as always).

Day 1| Thursday, January 23

We arrived about 9AM, picked up the rental car, and headed for the hotel. Upon driving there we realized we would not be able to check in until 2pm without paying a $75 additional fee. So of course we were like screw that! We decided to drive to my best friends and head to get breakfast. We settled on going to Snooze at The Streets at SouthGlenn. I had heard so many great things about them but never visited until this day. They for sure lived up to expectation to say the least. Marcus had a Dirty Chai packed with Rum haha. I settled on having a mimosa. Marcus had the Shrimp & Grits in which he enjoyed and I had an egg scramble with hash browns, topped with avocado, and toast. The amount of food we had was VERY filling. We were stuffed once we were done and in much need of a stroll. Being that we were at The Streets at SouthGlenn Shopping Center it was only right we walked around to some of the shops. We stopped at H&M, Apricot Lane, Francesca's, and Paper Source. We killed so much time exploring the shopping center we were ready to head to the hotel to check in.

Our hotel was in downtown Denver which made it so accessible to get to lots of activities we planned as well as restaurants. Here are some highlights of our room. We went with a King Suite that I booked on Hotels.com. We were on the 14th floor and had a view of the city which was beautiful and a terrace balcony connecting from the living room to the bedroom.

Day 2 | Friday, January 24

We headed over to Skyline Park to do some ice skating. Needless to say I was a little rusty and took me some warming up but Marcus hit it like a pro. I was really surprised that this country boy could ice skate haha. It was a beautiful day out and the sun was shining so it made for a great day on the ice.

Next on our agenda was a surprise I had in store for Marcus. My best friend Amanda informed me of this cool ice castles place we could visit in Dillon. Now this place was immaculate. Have a look for yourself.

Day 3 | Saturday, January 25

Snowmobiling with White Tours

Location: Leadville, CO

We had an AMAZING time snowmobiling. This was a first for both of us and it was such a great experience. We had a tour guide and was trained on what to do and what not to do and how to work the snowmobile. There was a training track that we practiced on before following our guide on the actual tour. We even met a couple that was from Texas on our guide who were the one's to snap these photos of us. I would highly recommend taking this tour. It was safe, fun, beautiful, and very enjoyable.

We decided to eat at a restaurant called Fatty's Pizzeria 106 S Ridge St, Breckenridge, CO 80424 and when I say DELICIOUS. We both enjoyed our meals as well as the huge portion sizes. We decided to try some craft beer while we were there and took a great liking to them. If you are in the area and looking for a great restaurant with a wide variety of items on their menu I recommend eating here.

Day 4 | Sunday, January 26

Waterton Canyon

My best friend Amanda and her boyfriend decided on this hike destination for us. As many of you may know hiking is a must for me when I go to Colorado. I was really excited to be able to take Marcus on a hike on a new trail. We even purchased hiking shoes for this hike. This was a perfect way to get our and enjoy some fresh air. This hike is a 6.5 to a 12.5 mile hike. Amanda and Carlos made us snack packs to take with us and we ate at the picnic tables for a short rest alongside the river where we stopped to snap some pics. The sun was out and the fresh air smelt great. I highly recommend going on this hike. It was straight forward with little to no inclines and a clear pathway that made it easy for traveling.
