Need Sinus Relief?

Welcome Back Bloomers!
I have been a little MIA as I have been sick for the past few days. Monday I started feeling a tickle in my throat. Tuesday I woke up and was very hoarse and my throat was completely sore. I had little to no energy and was constantly thirsty. I could tell that I had a sinus headache and was congested due to my sinus draining. I knew exactly what it was that I needed to get some relief.
About 4-5 years ago I received an allergy test and it was determined that I suffer from year round allergies. So sinus infections are nothing new to me at this point. Over the years I have learned to manage them and understand what works best for me. Thankfully this time was not as severe as it has been in the past. If you suffer from sinus issues I have put together a list of 5 things that help me tremendously by self medicating at home.
First thing: Puffs Plus Lotion with VICKS
These Puffs Plus Lotion with VICKS are a lifesaver. I mean the smell of VICKS infused is amazingly soothing. They also are very gentle on your nose so you will not suffer from raw nose from blowing it so constantly. I have found if I do not use the Puffs with lotion my nose becomes very red and irritated. Often times it will hurt to the touch.
Second thing: Water
Water is essential to ensuring you are staying hydrated. I would make sure that you have a case of water handy. By drinking fluids this helps to keep the mucus thin which helps your sinus drain more easily. It is recommended to drink a glass of water every hour or two.
Third: Saline Rinse
OHHH this one is crucial. I have been using the NeilMed Sinus Rinse Kit for many years now. You can find these at your local drug store or grocery store. This kit contains 1 rinse bottle and 50 packets. Therefore you will have plenty left over. It is recommended to use distilled water only and the process is very easy. Just open a single packet, empty into the rinse bottle, fill the bottle to the line with your distilled water, and screw on the top. You will have to tilt your head to an upright position and squeeze the solution into each nostril. This is guaranteed to give you relief. I typically do this 2 to 3 times a day as needed.
Fourth must have: Mucinex Fast Max Severe Congestion & Cough
It is recommended that you take this as described on the label. I noticed relief by the end of the day and the following day I did not have as much congestion and my chills were gone. One thing that I really love is that you can use it day or night. This will not make you drowsy by any means. I have also taken their pill Sinus Max in the past but opted for the liquid as my throat was still sore.
Last thing: Spicy Beef Pho
Pho! I did a poll on IG and was pleasantly surprised by how many have not had pho before. It is so delicious. You can get this from any Vietnamese restaurant. Sometimes you can even find Snap dragon brand at a World Market. The broth soothes your throat as well as keeps your hydrated. If you are a person like me and you are not thrilled to eat chicken noodle soup this is the next best thing. Plus you have all the spices and herbs added that make it very flavorful.
I hope these give you as much relief as they did for me!
