Yardbird Restaurant

Welcome back Bloomers! Hubby and I took some much needed quality time to check out this restaurant that Dallas Influencers are raving about. Located between the Design District and Reunion District, Yardbird is a southern inspired restaurant that is known for their farm fresh ingredients and bourbon drinks. They have been nominated for the best friend chicken by Southern Living as well as one of America's best restaurants for a big night out with Forbes.

We attended for Brunch on a Sunday and the atmosphere was very warm and inviting. The architecture and design aesthetic was one of a kind. For starters, we ordered their Classic Buttermilk Biscuits ($8) that came with their homemade apple jam. The biscuits paired with their homemade jam was delicious. This was our first time having a jam of this kind and it was sweet and savory. The biscuits were not as soft on the outside as we were anticipating them to be however they were very dense.

Tell me what is brunch without a nice alcoholic beverage? My drink of choice was the Myna Bird and hubby enjoyed their Classic Old Fashioned. Both drinks were well made and I admit they did not skim out on the alcohol one bit. My drink paired pineapple, rum, prickly pear, lime, and campari. Now, this place is definitely upscale and their prices speak for themselves. Our drinks were priced at $16 each.

I am not going to lie, when I saw some of these prices on the menu I was ready to clutch my pearls y'all. HAHA. We were already here and it was Marcus's birthday weekend so we indulged in treating ourselves to a nice upscale brunch. My meal of choice was the Lewellyn's Fine Fried Chicken ($26) that consisted of 1/2 of a chicken served with honey hot sauce. Now this hot sauce was DELICIOUS. I should have asked if it was for sale because it was that good. The chicken was divine and cooked to perfection. The way their menu is structured their entree's do not come with any sides and must be purchased separately. Their side dishes are called Odds & Ends and range from $8 (bacon) to $16 (two crispy chicken biscuits). After seeing their mac & cheese on their Instagram account it was a must for me to try it. This side was $14 and was made with five artisanal cheeses. I could tell this meal was fresh just by the taste. Marcus chose the Chicken 'N' Watermelon 'N' Waffles priced at $36. In total we spent $125. Now you are probably thinking DANG, was it worth it? If you factor in the vibe, the service, and the quality of the food I would give it a 8/10. While the meals were delicious I do feel they were a tad overpriced. $26 for only four pieces of chicken is bonkers. Their Smoked Salmon Avocado Toast is priced at $23 and someone at a table we noticed ordered this and he was eating his girlfriends food after finishing it. HAHA.
